Playa del Carmen is a small town of 100,338 inhabitants located on the east coast of Yucatan in the Mexican Carribean. Originally Playa del Carmen was only a rustic fishing village where you could take a ferry to go to Cozumel, and the slightly larger Cancun was the only place where you could find the bare essentials. Nowadays Playa (as the locals call it) still amazes with it's growing developments, but still has that laid-back ambience that characterized it as so irresistible. "A place where you arrive to, and never want to leave"
